Our order for the “27 year old onion soup recipe” from regular menu and the New Year’s Eve menu were quite different. Delicate Maine Day Boat Scallops were quickly pan seared to seal in their natural sweetness, then paired with a velvety celeriac puree and tender roasted Phillips Farm baby carrots. they had a new menu but the food was extremely disappointing. I had the most ghastly experience on Wednesday 19 June 2019. I loved the atmosphere, casual but elegant. The inn was a former barge stop on the Delaware Canal, according to a newspaper food review. Very nice locale but mediocre French-style food. As you take a bite from the flatbread, it is easy to imagine the gentle crunch of the crust as the crunch of leaves underfoot on the autumn mountainside; the sound of the foragers walking through the forest, searching for the beautiful tendrils of wild mushrooms delivered from nature to your plate.
On that occasion I paid with my card. There are also extended areas outdoors for al fresco dining with space heaters.
The rack was separated into four chops and served atop roasted fingerling potatoes with tender crisp stalks of sweet asparagus: a superb preparation that echoes the flavors of the renowned lamb raised in the salt meadows of Lower Normandy in the shadow of Mount St. Michel. Will be back - wine is a little overpriced - we drink Migration Pinot Noir and buy it for 21.00 - the sell it for 22.00 per glass and 85 per bottle so we just drink that when we get back home.More.
Disappointed by the escargot and the dessert size (mouse) was just silly for the price. You just can’t beat this place, food is always brilliant.

Food was excellent and what a fantastic location, just beautiful. It gets an upgrade to two stars because the food was edible. The crab Benedict was so delicious as was the regular egg Benedict. Husband’s flavorless, thick soup came in a crock and my cold one came...More, First time at this restauant and we will certainly return. Service was fabulous, food even better, and the heat lamp rocked! It turned out great.
You either had a view of...More, Unpleasant Pheasant Our team has made thorough preparations, taking every precaution to ensure a safe environment for dining and accommodations as we all look to a clear path forward. All entrees are served with rosemary roasted potatoes and fresh fruit. The chef and management were very defensive and uncaring so that is part of the problem here.. We travel extensively and go to restaurants frequently and know good food and this experience was one of the worst. We've been coming to the Golden Pheasant for over 32 years to celebrate our first date there and were very disappointed when they closed a couple of years ago. My family went here today for Sunday brunch.

Wadworth is an independent family brewer based in Wiltshire, England since 1875. All in all, very disappointing for $35/person. We were five adults at 3PM and thery sat us at a round table by the fireplace and near the xmas tree. Is Golden Pheasant Inn currently accepting reservations?
Very pleasant experience, good selection on the menu that was well priced! thank-you once again...More, Family get together ruined ! We missed our reservation thinking it was thirty minutes later than it actually was -- totally our fault -- and yet the restaurant bent over backwards to make something work for us. There is no doubt in my mind that 27 years after our first Golden Pheasant meal, the food, atmosphere and gracious service have only improved with age. We have been going there for many years and were always happy with the food.

When it was time for the dessert drink order, our waitress walked around to 4 of my table-mates and took their drink orders. Jack Thompson, of the Thompson Organization and the Black Bass Hotel, purchased the Golden Pheasant in July of 2019 and plans to reopen in the new year. It was an exceptionally warm night so the outdoor dining was very busy and very vibrant. We had filet and they were cooked correctly. We are thrilled to read this review and will share it with our management team! The sturdy fieldstone structure, built in 1857 as a stopover for canal bargeman and other travelers, is on the National Registry of Historic Places. They’re a tad on the greasy side.
The Golden Pheasant is a rare and special pub with history, character and a warm welcome that offers award-winning cask ales and delicious seasonal home cooked food. I had my husband try it just in case I was being crazy, but his whole face winced up and he wouldn't help me finish it. We shared a piece of cake that was wonderful and satisfying followed by fresh flavorful coffee.
Our first time here will not be our last. Can’t wait to enjoy another meal at the Golden Pheasant.

Lovely bed, great views of both the canal and Delaware River. The roasted mushrooms for our flatbread come directly from a quaint family owned mushroom farm called Primordia, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of eastern Pennsylvania. They do the best Aromatic Crispy Duck in Carlisle. Beautiful place, creative menu and delicious food - we will absolutely eat here again when we’re back in the area! They, of course, had to shut down due to COVID but are now open again for outside dining and inside.
Yes, Golden Pheasant offers takeaway services. The hollandaise sauce received a thumbs down for the benedict with a super hard english muffin too tough to cut. I liked the atmosphere so much that I may try it again, but for the price, I was disappointed. Amazing food and service in a gorgeous setting. Will return!
