Yana is 100% handsourced Peruvian wool. This exclusive yarn is one of a kind - super bulky, but incredibly soft 21-micron wool. Our fiber has been hand-graded by master wool sorters with many years of experience. We called it Yana (which means black in Quechua); our “black sheep” definitely stands out from the rest of our collection in texture, scope, and softness.
Peru has a very distinctive history of wool, as first flocks of sheep were bought over by Spanish Conquistadores in the sixteenth century. Controversial changes in rearing methods meant that a super bulky and soft hybrid of sheep was created completely by accident.
Yana in quechua (the native language of the incas) means black; because we believe our black sheep definitely stands out from the flock. Yana is 100 % hand - sorted 21.5 - micron peruvian highland wool presented with a chunky and soft structure in an array of pop colours
Yana XL is our Yana, but blown up to a super chunky weight. Meaning ‘black’ in Quechua (the native language of the Incas) we decided to name it this as Yana due to it’s bold colour scheme and unique quality. Yana XL is 100 % hand - sorted 21.5 - micron peruvian highland wool presented with an exiremely bulky and soft structure.
We created Yana to be colourful. Offering a bold visual companion to Peruvian textiles that have been woven in wool in the highlands of Peru for centuries, Yana has been developed in pop shades alongside a neutral palette. Our Yana is the black sheep of the family.
