My first knit with the Amano Yarns Pima Cotton
By Kayla Struyck @wildflowerknitts
Hi friends! My name is Kayla and I’m new around here! I live in a little town called Grants Pass located in southern Oregon. I’ve been on my knitting journey for about 6 years and I’m forever evolving!
I was recently introduced to Amano yarns and WOW! I wish I was introduced sooner! I love that all of Amano yarns are made with natural fibers! With their yarns being made from all-natural fibers, you can totally feel the difference in quality. You can also feel good about buying yarn that is great for the environment!
I immediately jumped on board with their products and wanted to get my hands on their yarn to experience it for myself! I decided to make a comfortable bralette/top with their SAMI Cotton which is 100% Organic Peruvian Pima cotton and the softest I’ve come by thus far. Cotton was an important factor to consider because it can get up to up to 100+ degrees where I live. The last thing I want is to wear an alpaca/wool top in the summer months. Eek!
I decided on a beautiful seafoam color that would shine in the summer! I knew right away which pattern I was going to use for this top and that was The Ripple Bralette by Jessie Maed Designs. I knew the pattern combined with the Pima cotton yarn would create such a unique and versatile piece for my wardrobe. I love it when inspiration hits me! It doesn’t always happen but when it does it’s so fun to jump on that project while the feeling is fresh!
I ended up using 1.5 skeins of SAMI cotton yarn for a size medium with the bust circumference of 36-38”. I decided to go up in bust (usually a 34”) measurement because I wanted a relaxed fit. Check out my pictures to see what I’m talking about!
This bralette will be apart of my wardrobe for years to come and I MADE IT. I made it with yarn created from natural fibers from a company that is invested in bringing luxury yarns to the hands of many people! There is no greater feeling than that! I can’t encourage you enough to spend time knitting for yourself.
Thank you for reading about my first experience with Amano yarns! I hope yours is just as exciting as mine! I’d love to know what projects you’re working!
